Xolos Academy FC to hold free clinic

Exhibition match to be played before clinics Club Tijuana fuerzas basicas vs. southwest high school boys varsity team

CHULA VISTA –Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles de Caliente will hold a youth soccer clinic Saturday March 22 at Southwest High School in South San Diego conducted by the Xolos Academy FC. An exhibition match between the Club Tijuana preserves and the Southwest High boys high school team.

The exhibition match will kickoff at 1 p.m. and will feature players that have grown and developed through the Club Tijuana youth academies in the region. Southwest High won the California Interscholastic Federation Division II title earlier this month.

The youth clinics will commence after the match with drills and instruction for boys and girls in the under-6 through under-14 categories.

The clinic schedule is as follows:

3 p.m.: Under-6

4 p.m.: Under-8

5 p.m.: Under-10

Parents interested in bringing their young athlete to the clinic to receive a soccer experience like no other in California. The Xolos Academy FC is the only soccer program directly linked to a Mexican First Division club. Coach Ignacio Ruvalcaba oversees the academy and he will be directing the clinics with the help of his coaching staff.

This year, the academy included a new team that will be made up of elite players who are subject to being invited by the Xoloitzcuintles Technical Director to Club Tijuana’s Fuerzas Basicas and participate in Mexico’s professional soccer league and tournaments at minimum or no cost to parents. This is available to the following categories: Under-13, Under-15, Third Division, Under-17, Under-20 or for a professional contract with the Xoloitzcuintles first team.

More than 100 young athletes took part in the Under-5 to Under-14 tryouts for boys and girls conducted by academy coaches at the Hilltop High School football stadium last week. Now athletes will have similar access through a handful of drills and activities under the watchful eye of certified coaches.

Parents who want to give their children an opportunity to develop the knowledge, tools, skills and opportunity to potentially reach a spot on one of the club’s professional teams or earn a university scholarship, this is where to start. Players will have the chance to learn what it takes to be an elite competitor and gain the tools that can help them develop into a standout player and help them reach their career goals.

Registration into the academy will continue through March 31 during any of the academy practices and at the academy designated office.
