Club Tijuana holding tryouts in Chula Vista: Under-15 to Under-18

CHULA VISTA –Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles de Caliente continues to grow its Xolos Academy FC in Chula Vista, Calif. and continues to look for talent in the area.


The Xoloitzcuintles held tryouts for the boys Under-15 to Under-18 categories Monday April 14 through April 17 at Hilltop High school. More than 100 athletes showed up for the four-day tryout period. Tryouts at the high school took place at high school’s football field under the lights from 7 to 9 p.m.


The Xolos Academy FC in Chula Vista is headed by Club Tijuana’s Under-17 coach Ignacio Ruvalcaba. The academy brings the same values and philosophies used by the professional team in the LIGA Bancomer MX.


Coach Ruvalcaba’s team of assistant coaches and staff took the athletes that participate through several fitness drills as well as some soccer specific tasks. Club Tijuana coaches were looking for players that can be part of the program designed to filter players to the “Fuerzas Basicas” in Tijuana as the players develop.


The Under-15 to Under-18 teams will have the opportunity to compete in one of the state of California’s best teams in the Presidio League. Talent in these categories will also have the chance to be part of special tournaments and special competitions.
